Slab-building is one of the most versatile techniques in pottery. Unlike throwing on the wheel, it's precise and structural rather than fluid.

In this 4.5-hour workshop, led by hand-building tutor Ros Ingram, you'll make a functional jug from start to finish using slab methods: shaping, joining, refining. 

All jugs completed in the session will be fired and ready for glazing within 3 weeks, so just in time for Christmas gifting! Students wI’ll be invited back to glaze or can leave the glazing to The Old Bank staff. 

This workshop is a good follow-up for anyone who attended the hand-building taster class, but the class will accept anyone who wants to learn slab-building techniques, from novice to experienced potter.

What to bring: All tools and an aprons are provided. 

What to wear:  Clay is messy, so we encourage casual dress when possible.  The stoneware clay used in this class will brush or wash off of most fabrics relatively easily.
