Welcome to The Old Bank, Henley-in-Arden
Our pottery studio and gallery can be found in the heart of the Shakespearean market town of Henley-in-Arden, 8-miles from Stratford-upon-Avon and 18-miles from central Birmingham.
The Old Bank occupies the 400 years old former bank building right next to the ancient Market Cross, once the hub of trade and commerce in the town. The light-flooded building offers space for aspiring potters, professional ceramicists, and art lovers to learn, create, and discover.
With 12 potters wheels, 10 hand-building stations, 2 198L Skutt kilns, and a dedicated gallery space, we offer pottery courses and workshops, from one hour to two days, regular exhibitions, and private events by arrangement.
We invite all skill levels — from beginners to experienced makers — looking to advance their pottery practice in a supportive community studio.

Jump in with two feet and really learn how to throw, turn, and decorate pots.
Six hours of instruction spread across two consecutive days where you learn the fundamentals that underpin most making on the wheel.
Day 1 is focused exclusively on centering clay on the wheel, opening, and pulling up to form the all important cylinder. The work is repetitive by design. Muscle memory takes time, and there’s no shortcut to it.
Day 2 is refining your pots with turning and decoration - this is the the most satisfying part of wheel throwing and you completely miss out on this if you only take a taster class.
Suitable for complete beginners and for anyone who has attended a taster and is know looking for a proper foundation.
